Traditionally, the Divine Marriage of Lord Siva with his Consort Goddess Parvathi will be performed just once on the sacred day when the star ‘Uthiram’ falls on the Tamil Calendar month of Panguni and this divine function is known as the ‘Panguni Uthiram’ festival!
However, in the world-famous Thiruvannamalai temple of Lord Arunachaleswarar, the Divine Marriage as mentioned above will be PERFORMED TWICE ON THE HOLY DAY OF PANGUNI UTHIRAM!
In Thiruvannamalai, the first Divine Marriage will be performed on the Sanctum Sanctorum deity of Lord Annamalaiyar with his Consort Goddess Unnamulai Amman.
Later, the second marriage will be performed on the deity (taken out on processions) of Lord Periya Nayakar!
IT IS WORTH NOTING THAT THIS DOUBLE DIVINE WEDDING ARE PERFORMED ONLY IN THIRUVANNALAMALAI!
