Preventing Summer Colds: Causes and Precautions

Colds, coughs, and flu can occur not only in winter but also in summer due to different viruses. Seasonal temperature changes are not the only cause—viruses spread through water and air, leading to symptoms like sneezing, runny nose, mild fever, cough, and fatigue.

People working outdoors, such as sales representatives and laborers, are more vulnerable due to excessive sweating and dehydration. Drinking contaminated water, especially cold drinks or chilled water, can introduce viruses into the body, increasing the risk of infection.

To prevent summer colds, carry distilled water, avoid drinking from unknown sources, and stay hydrated. Minimize outdoor exposure during peak heat, maintain good hygiene, and avoid close contact with infected individuals. Wash clothes after returning home, take a bath, and boost immunity through a healthy diet. Limit refrigerated food and ice cream consumption, and always use clean water for drinking and bathing.
